Pottery

Pottery is a general term for anything made by adding water to crushed soil or stone, making it into a clay-like form, and firing it. There are two main types: pottery made from clay and porcelain made from crushed stone powder.

Ceramics is an interesting field that creates a wide range of products, from everyday items to works of art.
From the Meiji period to the Taisho and Showa periods, there was a major movement to view ceramics as something to express rather than something to be used.
Kyoto produced many artists who played a major role in this movement, including Akadosha and Sodeisha.
